A strong advocate of scientific research and heritage conservation, he established institutes such as the G P Birla Archaeological, Astronomical and Scientific Research Institute. His contributions also extended to temples, museums, and healthcare facilities, reinforcing his commitment to societal progress. Recognized for his efforts, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2006, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.

Smt. Nirmala Birla
A distinguished educationist and philanthropist, Smt. Nirmala Birla, wife of Late Shri G P Birla, has played a pivotal role in shaping premier educational institutions like Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata, and Rukmani Birla Modern High School, Jaipur. She has successfully carried forward the vision of her late husband and continues to uphold and nurture the institutions he established with unwavering dedication. As Chairperson of the G P Birla Archaeological Astronomical and Scientific Research Institute, she has overseen initiatives in science, astronomy, and archaeology, attracting renowned scholars and Nobel laureates. Her efforts in modernizing planetariums, curating rare collections, and launching the Space Museum reflect her dedication to innovation. With a passion for education, art, and cultural heritage, she continues to make learning more accessible and globally aligned.
